Flats come in two fabric options: cotton and bamboo. Bamboo is softer, more absorbent, and also slightly larger in size (32" vs 27" square for cotton flats). Both can be folded to fit your baby. Here are two videos showing flat folds for one-size and newborns. You can adjust any of the folding for a custom fit on your baby!
